Ticats and Tastebuds Kick Off Sixth Year of BeFit Progam

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Tastebuds, Hamilton’s Student Nutrition Collaborative, are excited to kick off another year of the BeFit community program. Entering the programs sixth year, BeFit will visit over 50 schools in 2015.
The BeFit program, which focuses on promoting healthy active lifestyle amongst youth, sends Tiger-Cats players into schools in the Greater Hamilton area. Through the program, Ticats players will engage students in a fun and educational platform regarding healthy and nutritious lifestyle choices, while stressing the importance of eating well and getting 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
“We’ve made some interactive and exciting changes to the BeFit program this year in an attempt to give students more from the presentation”, said John Williams, the Tiger-Cats Community Partnerships Coordinator. “BeFit has become one of our signature community programs that embodies the Hamilton Tiger-Cats mandate of health and wellness to its core.”
“Tastebuds really values our partnership with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the leadership and excitement they bring to the conversation of healthy student eating and activity”, said Tastebuds’ Manager, Deirdre Pike.

The programs annual kick off will take place at Hamilton’s St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School on Friday morning.
