Three from Toronto receive CFL Combine invite

CFL.ca Staff
TORONTO — Three more players are on their way to the National Combine in Toronto this weekend, as running backs Melvin Abankwah Matt Rea and linebacker Louis Mensah turned heads on Thursday.
It was the week’s final of three regional combines and the final chance for young prospects to earn a chance to perform on the national stage from March 27-29.
Saint Mary’s running back Abankwah was one of the higher-profile players coming in, and on Thursday he was one of the most impressive. Abankwah was top-five in everything but the bench, while in the one-on-one drills he made the most of the spotlight with several key offensive plays.
Rea is the second running back moving onto Toronto, tying this week’s top bench press with 29 reps. The Michigan State runner also placed top-five in both the shuttle and three-cone.
Rounding out the three moving on was linebacker Louis Mensah of Fort Lewis College.
