TORONTO — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats find themselves back on top of the Nissan Titan Power Rankings following a convincing win in Week 7.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Week 7 Ranking: 1 (Last Week: 3)
Fuelled by their defence, which featured seven sacks and two pick-sixes, and Zach Collaros, who threw for three touchdown passes, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats now sit atop the Nissan Titan Power Rankings. That’s three double-digit wins in a row for the Ticats, who keep rolling despite a number of key injuries.
Calgary Stampeders
Week 7 Ranking: 2 (Last Week: 2)
The Stampeders’ spot remains unchanged after the team’s bye week. Calgary has seen a number of its offensive linemen forced on the shelf along with star running back Jon Cornish. The Stamps host the Ottawa REDBLACKS at McMahon Stadium and are looking to even up the season series after being stunned in overtime in Week 5.
Edmonton Eskimos
Week 7 Ranking: 3 (Last Week: 1)
The Eskimos fall two spots after dropping a game to the Lions. Edmonton was shut out in the second half and Matt Nichols has remained inconsistent at quarterback. Already without Shakir Bell, the team lost Adarius Bowman midway through the contest and his status remains unknown. He’s an important weapon and his prescence will be missed on offence if he’s out for an extended amount of time.
Toronto Argonauts
Week 7 Ranking: 4 (Last Week: 4)
Finally playing a game at Rogers Centre, the Argonauts used two fourth-quarter touchdown strikes to rally and beat the Roughriders. Trevor Harris remains poised under centre and the team’s receiving corps continues to be effective. Toronto will be looking to feed off this momentum in the upcoming weeks.
Ottawa REDBLACKS
Week 7 Ranking: 5 (Last Week: 7)
Henry Burris rallied the REDBLACKS and led them to a gutsy win over the Als while scoring the game-winning major. The offence is clicking while the defence continues to hold opponents to the second-fewest yards per game. Ottawa has already doubled its win total from last year and is poised to increase it even further.
BC Lions
Week 7 Ranking: 6 (Last Week: 8)
Led by Andrew Harris, the Lions climb up to the sixth spot. He scored another two touchdowns this week increasing his total to six on the year. BC was able to hold the Eskimos scoreless in the second half while Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian each recorded seven tackles in the win. The Lions are hoping to string a few more of these games together.
Montreal Alouettes
Week 7 Ranking: 7 (Last Week: 5)
The Alouettes lost another close game and need to find a way to put more points on the board. Montreal remains one of the lower-scoring teams in the league but its defence has kept it in a number of games this season.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Week 7 Ranking: 8 (Last Week: 6)
The Bombers are awaiting news on injured quarterback Drew Willy, while consistency continues to elude the Blue and Gold early in 2015. Yet they’re still within striking distance in the highly-competitive West while a home date with the Argos is next.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
Week 7 Ranking: 9 (Last Week: 9)
The Roughriders are still searching for their first victory after blowing a fourth quarter lead to the Argonauts. Brett Smith improved in his second game at pivot but Saskatchewan will need to figure out a way to cut down on penalties – two touchdowns were called back against Toronto because of infractions.
