Ticats All Access Game Day Predictor : Week 8 vs. Lions

At each Tiger-Cats game, fans who sign up for Ticats All Access will have the opportunity to participate in our game day predictor. Fans will have the chance to prove that they are the most knowledgeable (or luckiest) fan, by answering a number of props questions prior to kickoff. The more questions you get right, the more yards you collect for your All Access account, which increase your chances for game day and weekly prizes.

How many points will both teams score, combined? Over or under 50.5? 

The Tiger-Cats defence continues to be incredibly stifling at home, allowing just 12.8 points per game at Tim Hortons Field through eight regular season games there. Lions games have been particularly high scoring in 2015, averaging a total of 51 points per game so far. Don’t expect a ton of points out of the Lions, thanks to the stingy Ticats home defence, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Hamilton piles on the points for the third straight game.

How many first quarter points will be scored? Over or under 13.5

Through a combined 12 games to start the season, the Ticats and Lions defences have allowed seven points to the opposition just three times (25%). The Lions have typically started slow as well, scoring more than seven first-quarter points just once this season. If the teams stick to their 2015 trends, the first quarter could very well be a low-scoring affair.

How many completions will Zach Collaros throw? Over under 23.5 completions?

Many people are going to choose the under on this, simply because Collaros will not have his two favourite 2015 targets, Andy Fantuz and Bakari Grant, in the lineup. Choosing the over— which is still a safe bet with all of the talented receivers that remain in the lineup and Collaros’ ability to create on the fly— could pay off and give you the edge over the competition, who will be leaning towards the under.

How many sacks will the Tiger-Cats defence get? Over or under 2.5 sacks?

Prior to last week, the Cats had brought down opposing quarterbacks just 11 times in five games; however, they exploded for seven in last week’s game, jumping to second in the league. The Lions offensive line has allowed just five sacks all season on Travis Lulay. In combination with the Ticats’ slow start, the odds are in favour of the under here. That being said, don’t be surprised at all if Hamilton’s pass rushers have another big day.

Who will lead the Tiger-Cats in tackles? A) Simoni Lawrence B) Taylor Reed  C) Emanuel Davis  D) Eric Norwood E) Other 

Lawrence, Davis and Norwood have each tallied 3+ tackles in each of the last two games, while also each recording a total of 10+ tackles in those two games combined. Norwood has been on a tear since returning to the lineup, recording eight tackles in his 2015 debut, only to follow that up with two sacks last week against the Bombers. Any of these players would be excellent choices here, but I’m putting my stock in Norwood this week.
