Beyond the Field: Erik Harris

Favourite current album/song?
“Probably TGT by Tyrece, Ginuwine and Tank. I’m a big slow-jam guy.”
What’s your go-to pre-game meal?
“Something light, probably some type of pasta, not too much.”
Was there a football player you idolized growing up?
“I was a huge Eddie George fan, and that’s why I’m a big Tennessee Titans fan today. Just the way that he ran and the style he played.”
Who’s the best player you’ve ever faced off against or played with?
“I don’t know, I honestly couldn’t tell you.”
Is there a story behind #41?
“That’s what they gave me, I’m not picky. The same thing happened in college, I didn’t have a number until gameday, and I walked in and it was in my locker so I just kept with the 31.”
Is there a number that you’d choose if you could?
“I’ve been a lot of different numbers, but I think the number I’ve been most consistent with was number 2 throughout high school.”
Which Ticats do you hang out with most outside of the football field?
“I couldn’t tell you. It used to be [Delvin] Breaux and Lindsey Lamar, but now that the kids are here [it’s different]. I hang out with mainly the defensive guys, and Tasker a lot too, his wife is really good friends with my wife.”
What’s your favourite thing to do off the field?
“I just like spending time with my family, enjoying all the moments that I’m blessed to have with them. The situation’s always different, so I’m just happy to spend the extra time I have with them.”
Do you have a favourite sport to watch, other than football?
“Probably basketball, I’m a Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan.”
How did you find your way to Hamilton?
“A chain of people just knowing each other. I went to a free agent tryout in Buffalo, the first one after the new coaching staff with Coach Austin came into town. I went there to the same free agent tryout as CJ Gable, and they called me two days later.”
What’s your favourite city you’ve ever played in?
“Hamilton.”
