After the Ticats game on Saturday night, Ted Laurent was watching his alma mater Ole Miss upset the Alabama Crimson Tide. Laurent’s former squad beat Alabama for the second straight year, becoming only the second team ever to beat a top-3 Crimson Tide team in consecutive seasons.

Following a two-day wait to hear the status on Zach Collaros’ knee, the Ticats quarterback broke the silence and delivered the news on Twitter with an emotional message to the fans.

After Collaros announced that his injury was season-ending, a couple of his defensive teammates responded with some heartfelt tweets. Both Lawrence and Hall were clearly upset about the injury, but neither is ready to let it get them down moving forward. The love was returned by Collaros on Tuesday at his media availability, when the quarterback told media that he’d be staying in Hamilton during the rehabilitation of his knee.
“I just want to be here. I’ve been playing team sports since I can remember, and you don’t get that feeling when you’re sitting at home. I love being around these guys, I’d miss Simoni and B-Hall, Andy and Bakari, I couldn’t go home and just sit around.” – Collaros

Mike Daly, along with a number of other Ticats players, are participating in the team’s high school mentorship program this year, coaching high school teams in the Hamilton area. Daly had the rare opportunity to return to his former high school in Kitchener to mentor the students there. Each player will be going to two of their teams’ practices and one game to mentor students both on and off the field.

Simoni Lawrence and Ted Laurent doing yoga together, what more needs to be said? If Big Ted is getting after it at yoga, what’s your excuse for not going?
