Fantuz steps up when called upon
In his second game back in the Ticats lineup, Fantuz did not pile on the offensive yardage, but he made some very significant catches in the contest. Fantuz was tied for the team lead in receptions on the night, reeling in five catches for 51 yards, but it was the magnitude of his catches that was important. The veteran Canadian receiver made a number of big catches on extended plays and key second down situations, and he was on the receiving end of one of two touchdowns thrown by Jeff Mathews.
Tasker moves closer to 1000-yard season
Luke Tasker inched closer to the first 1,000-yard season of his three-year CFL career on Friday night. The third-year receiver made five grabs for 93 yards in Friday’s game against the Lions, moving to within 49 yards of the 1,000-yard mark. Tasker kicked off the game with a 64-yard touchdown reception and added four more receptions, continuing his success since Jeff Mathews’ transition into the starting quarterback role.

Reed continues strong play at linebacker
The Ticats linebacker led the team in tackles for the second straight week and recorded his fifth game of 5+ tackles in the last seven games. Reed was one of the few bright spots in the Ticats lineup on Friday night, continuing his sideline-to-sideline domination. The second-year linebacker has been a consistent performer for the Ticats all season long, and he continued that strong play in Friday night’s game.
Gable notches 70 yards in return
In CJ Gable’s return to the Black and Gold lineup, the Ticats running back racked up 45 yards on the ground on nine carries, averaging five yards per carry on the night. Gable added 25 receiving yards agains the Lions, finishing the night with 70 yards from scrimmage. The output was not on the level of Gable’s explosion against the Riders in his last return to the lineup, but the veteran back fit right into the lineup again and should be able to build on that performance moving forward.
