Tiger-cats Re-sign Qb Jeremiah Masoli

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the football club has re-signed international quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to a two-year contract.
“Jeremiah has worked very hard to grow as a player and person over the last three seasons in Hamilton,” said Tiger-Cats Vice-President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach Kent Austin. “His resilience and the way he elevated his play at a crucial point in our season last year speaks volumes about his character and we’re excited to have him back.”
Masoli, 27, dressed in six regular season games and started two playoff games for the Tiger-Cats in 2015. His lone regular season game action came in the final game on November 7 at Ottawa where he threw for 148 yards, rushed for 27 yards and accounted for two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing).

The 5-10, 221-pound native of San Francisco, California led Hamilton to a 25-22 win over Toronto in the Eastern Semi-Final, completing 12-of-18 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown, while adding 58 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground. Masoli continued his two-pronged attack in the Eastern Final against Ottawa, passing for 349 yards and two touchdowns, and rushing for 40 yards and another touchdown in a 35-28 loss to the Redblacks.
In three CFL seasons with the Tiger-Cats, Masoli has passed for 453 yards, rushed for 135 yards, and posted four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing). He was acquired by Hamilton on February 5, 2013 from Edmonton along with linebacker Simoni Lawrence and offensive lineman Greg Wojt in exchange for linebacker Nathan Kanya and offensive lineman Carson Rockhill.
Masoli originally signed with the Eskimos as a free agent in 2012 after stints with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks. Prior to turning pro, Masoli spent two seasons at Oregon (2008-09) and one at Ole Miss (2010), throwing for 5,930 yards with 42 touchdowns, and rushing for 1,930 yards with 29 majors.
