The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday that the football club has signed international free agent offensive lineman Brian Simmons to a two-year contract.
Simmons, 30, played one game at right tackle with the Tiger-Cats in 2015 before being traded to the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft. He did not suit up in a game for Edmonton.
The 6-5, 310-pound native of Raleigh, North Carolina has appeared in 61 career games during his five-year CFL career (2011-15), all with the Tiger-Cats, playing at left tackle, right tackle and right guard. Simmons has also seen action in six playoff games, including two Grey Cup appearances in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, he was named an East Division All-Star and the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Lineman. The University of Oklahoma product attended the New England Patriots training camp in 2010.
