Tiger-cats Sign Defensive Back Washington

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday that the football club has signed international free agent defensive back Demond Washington to a two-year contract.

Washington, 28, started 17 games in 2015 for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, posting 67 defensive tackles, one sack, three interceptions, three pass knock downs and a forced fumble. The 5-9, 180-pound native of Tallassee, Alabama also returned six kickoffs for 111 yards (18.5 avg.) last season.

In 67 career CFL games with Winnipeg since 2012, Washington has accumulated 246 defensive tackles, five sacks, six interceptions, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. The Auburn University product has also returned 78 punts for 786 yards (10.1 avg.) with three touchdowns, and 84 kickoffs for 1,693 yards (20.2 avg.) with a touchdown for the Bombers.
