Tiger-cats Trade Offensive Lineman O’neill To Lions

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday that the football club has acquired a fifth round pick in the 2016 CFL Draft from the B.C. Lions in exchange for national offensive lineman Tim O’Neill.

O’Neill, 36, appeared in 18 games with the Tiger-Cats in 2015, starting seven times at right guard. The 6-3, 305-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia has played 140 games during his nine-year CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders (2008-11) and Tiger-Cats (2012-15). He has also appeared in 12 playoff games, including three Grey Cup appearances in 2008, 2013 and 2014.

O’Neill was selected by the Edmonton Eskimos in the third round, 22nd overall, in the 2005 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. He spent two seasons (2006-07) with the Eskimos but never suited up in a regular season game.
