Labour Day Classic In Prime Time Headlines Tiger-cats 2016 Home Schedule

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, in conjunction with the Canadian Football League, announced the team’s 2016 season schedule on Thursday. Riding a streak of 17-straight sellouts at Tim Hortons Field since the stadium opened its doors in 2014, Ticats fans will have to secure their tickets early to ensure being part of Canada’s best live viewing experience and the CFL’s greatest home field advantage.
The Tiger-Cats home schedule will kick off on Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m. with a special Canada Day matchup against the B.C. Lions. Tim Hortons Field will host a rematch of the 2015 Eastern Final on Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m. against the Ottawa Redblacks, and two games against East Division rival Montreal Alouettes on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, November 5.
Hamilton’s home schedule is highlighted by the annual Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field against the Toronto Argonauts which will kick off in prime time as the main event of Mark’s Labour Day Weekend. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 5.
“The Tiger-Cats, in cooperation with our partners the CFL and TSN, are extremely enthusiastic about shifting the league’s marquee regular season matchup to prime time,” said Tiger-Cats Caretaker Bob Young. “We’re excited to showcase our great product and our great stadium experience to all of Canada and the world at a time of day when we can reach the greatest possible audience.”
Young continued, “The prime time kickoff also creates an opportunity to expand Labour Day festivities at Tim Hortons Field and deliver fans an enhanced game day experience in a day-long lead-up to this premier event. We look forward to confirming these details for our fans in the months ahead.”
The Tiger-Cats and Argonauts square off three times in 2016, including opening the CFL’s schedule on Thursday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the first-ever regular season football game to be played at BMO Field in Toronto, home of the 104th Grey Cup presented by Shaw.
Seven of Hamilton’s nine regular season home games will be played on a Friday (four) or Saturday (three), with one Monday and one Thursday game, including two holiday games on Canada Day and Labour Day. The Black and Gold will be featured on TSN’s Friday Night Football six times in 2016.
Young added, “We pride ourselves on delivering the best live viewing experience in Canadian sports, and having a schedule our fans can get excited about is a significant part of achieving exactly that. This schedule provides great options for all Ticats supporters, from friends and family who attend together, those focused on client entertaining and employee recognition, to both avid and casual fans. We can’t wait to welcome all of TigerTown back to Tim Hortons Field starting June 17.”
