After 12 seasons of sporting his traditional yellow Tiger-Cats hat, Hamilton Tiger-Cats Caretaker, Bob Young, has decided to make a change to his signature headwear in advance of The Hamilton Tiger-Cats first home game of the 2016 season on July 1, 2016, an anticipated 18th consecutive sellout, against the BC Lions.
“Ticats fans have become familiar with this part of my identity,” Young admitted, but the team’s owner has never been averse to making a change to his wardrobe.

The Caretaker and his yellow strap back Ticats hat have been inseparable since Young took over ownership of the Hamilton CFL club in 2003. He’s worn it to nearly every game and public event he’s attended over the years, with the hat serving as a testament to his passion as both owner and die-hard fan of the Ticats.
Young is not ready to undertake this big decision on his own, however. After combing through numerous proposed designs, the Caretaker has settled on four finalists for his next Ticats signature headwear.
“The toughest part of this process is choosing the best design from these four excellent options,” said Young. “I hope Ticats fans enjoy having the opportunity to assist in the process as their choice will ultimately determine the winner.”
The four final designs (pictured below) include a shout out to some of the Tiger-Cats most passionate fans, the Box J Boys, and another that pays homage to the Caretaker’s Twitter avatar.
Fans can vote on which new design they’d like to see the Ticats owner adopt in 2016 by participating in polls across all Tiger-Cats social media platforms. Follow @ticats on Twitter and @hamiltontigercats on Instagram to make sure your voice is heard. The winning design will be announced on April 1 at 1:00 p.m on ticats.ca.
