Live Stream Of Ticats Preseason Finale Sets Audience Records

Game sets records for viewership and engagement on Ticats.ca and Ticats Facebook page
Viewers from 55 countries logged into Ticats.ca to watch Friday’s live stream of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 42-25 preseason win over the Ottawa Redblacks, in what was the highest traffic day in Ticats.ca history. The broadcast recorded over 15,000 unique stream viewers, a 40% increase from last year’s preseason game between the same two teams on June 8, 2015.
The Tiger-Cats, along with their digital media partner, Stadium Digital, also streamed the game live on Facebook, marking the first-ever major Canadian professional sporting event, and first professional football game in North America, that was streamed using Facebook Live. An additional 10,000 viewers watched the live stream of the game on Facebook, and posts relating to the game reached over 1.1 million people, a 360% increase over the previous highest day.
“Once again the response in terms of viewership of our live stream was outstanding as we continue to find creative and innovative ways to engage with our fans, and fans of the CFL, through various digital channels,” said Scott Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. “The Facebook activity numbers were overwhelming, and we will continue to work with our partner, Stadium Digital, to create and deliver content like this that will be of value and interest to our fans.”
During the regular season, the Tiger-Cats will continue to stream their Ticats TV Live presented by Baffin pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows on Ticats.ca live from Tim Hortons Field for every home game including play-by-play audio from TSN1150 Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats have a long-term partnership with Stadium Digital to build and manage Ticats.ca, deliver streaming of exclusive content to Ticats.ca, and to power the Ticats All Access fan loyalty program. The Ticats TV Live post-game show streamed on Ticats.ca is now Ticats fans’ first source for post-game reaction from players and coaches after every home game.
