The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation are proud to announce that Hearts in the Huddle, presented by Enercare, has returned for a third season in 2016.
Hearts in the Huddle has brought Tiger-Cats players into McMaster Children’s Hospital and its outpatient programs at Chedoke for regular visits with patients since 2014. In addition to regularly scheduled visits to the hospital, the Ticats and Enercare have provided tickets and special game-day field passes to selected patients and their families.
“We have a lot of great ambassadors that support the hospital on many different levels, but I’ve found in my time with the Foundation that the Tiger-Cats players that visit are so great with the kids and really go above and beyond,” said Parker Neale, Development Officer of Community Engagement for Hamilton Health Sciences. “This program means so much to our kids because they get a chance to experience these visits at the hospital, and they also get to experience a live game in a special suite at Tim Hortons Field, which is tremendous.”
On June 27, linebacker Simoni Lawrence, defensive back Craig Butler and defensive end Adrian Tracy were on hand at McMaster Children’s Hospital to kick off the 2016 season.
“To participate in Hearts in the Huddle and other community programs in Hamilton is an important part of being a Tiger-Cat,” said Lawrence. “Every time we attend McMaster Children’s Hospital, we get so much joy just being around the kids and bringing smiles to their faces. To see these children and their parents demonstrate such amazing courage is inspirational and motivational for us.”
“We are very proud to be a part of the Hearts in the Huddle program for a third consecutive year,” said Kris Tessmer, General Manager of Operations Development for Enercare. “It’s really special for our guests from McMaster Children’s Hospital to be able to come down to field level, meet some of the players, and enjoy the game from a suite at Tim Hortons Field. We’re very happy to be a part of it.”
