The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive end Adrian Tracy has been named the Shaw CFL Top Performer for Week 4.
Tracy, 29, posted a career-high 11 defensive tackles, while adding his first-two CFL quarterback sacks and first-two forced fumbles in Hamilton’s 31-7 road win over the Montreal Alouettes on July 15. In his second CFL season, the 6-3, 245-pound native of Fairfax, Virginia, has started at defensive end in all four of the Tiger-Cats games and ranks first on the team in forced fumbles (2), second in defensive tackles (20), tied for third in pass knock downs (2), and tied for fourth in quarterback sacks (2).
The College of William & Mary product dressed and started in six regular season games for the Tiger-Cats in 2015, the first of which marked his CFL debut on July 2 at Winnipeg. On the season, Tracy registered 15 defensive tackles, one fumble recovery and two pass knock downs. He was signed to the Tiger-Cats practice roster in 2014 after attending training camp with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. Tracy also spent parts of four seasons (2010-13) with the New York Giants, who selected him in the sixth round, 184th overall, in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Ottawa’s Trevor Harris and B.C.’s Jonathan Jennings, second and third in voting, respectively, join Tracy as this week’s Shaw CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
