Tiger-cats Sign Wide Receiver Chiles

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday that the football club has signed international free agent wide receiver John Chiles.
Chiles, 27, registered 10 receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns in three games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders this season before being released on August 24, 2016. In three CFL seasons with the Toronto Argonauts (2013-14) and Roughriders, the native of Dallas, Texas, has recorded 83 receptions for 1,335 yards with 12 touchdowns in 23 career games.
The 6-2, 209-pound receiver also spent time with the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints (2011), St. Louis Rams (2011-12), Chicago Bears (2015), and the Arena Football League’s Jacksonville Sharks (2011). He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by New Orleans on July 27, 2011.
Chiles played four seasons (2007-09) at the University of Texas at both quarterback and wide receiver. In 37 career games with the Longhorns, he posted 12 pass completions for 166 yards with two touchdowns, 65 receptions for 752 yards with four touchdowns, and added 91 carries for 377 yards with four touchdowns.
The Tiger-Cats also announced Thursday that national linebacker Byron Archambault has been placed on the six-game injured list.
