Chick Named 2016 Cfl All-star

The Canadian Football League unveiled the 2016 CFL All-Stars on Wednesday, a list that included Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive end John Chick for the third time in his career.
Chick, 33, started all 18 regular season games at defensive end for the Tiger-Cats in 2016 after signing as a free agent on January 24. He finished the season tied for second in CFL sacks (14) and tied for third in forced fumbles (4), while adding 40 defensive tackles, four tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries and five pass knock downs. For his efforts, Chick was named the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Defensive Player and a CFL East Division All-Star in November.
The 6-4, 253-pound product of Utah State was named a Shaw CFL Top Performer (2nd Place) for Week 18 after recording five defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and one forced fumble in overtime on October 21 at Ottawa. He also started and recorded two defensive tackles in the Eastern Semi-Final on November 13 vs. Edmonton.
A native of Gillette, Wyoming, Chick has now been named a CFL All-Star three times throughout his career, previously earning the honours with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2009 and 2014. He is also a two-time Grey Cup Champion (2007, 2013) and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2009.
The CFL All-Stars were selected by the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and the league’s head coaches. This is the 54th year in which the CFL has named an All-Star team in recognition of the season’s best performers. In total, 67 voters selected the 27 All-Stars this season.
