Ticats All Access Game Day Predictor, presented by Sports Interaction: Week 4 vs. BC Lions

How many total points will be scored? Over or under 51.5?
The Tiger-Cats offence hasn’t yet hit its stride, but with strong performances by rookie Tiger-Cats in week 3 vs. Saskatchewan, there is promise for an immediate turnaround. WR Jalen Saunders was an injection of speed and sure-handedness that any team would benefit from. WR Junior Collins is no rookie, and in his first start of the young season, he put the ball in the end-zone.
The Lions have averaged 26 points a game so far this season, and QB Jonathon Jennings has performed as projected. In two starts against the Tiger-Cats last season, Jennings put up particularly strong numbers. Last week RB Jeremiah Johnson tore up the Alouettes strong defence with over 100 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Jennings’ penchant for running the ball provides a one-two punch on the ground.
In the first game against the Lions in 2016, with Masoli starting at QB, the Tiger-Cats suffered defeat in a low scoring affair, with the teams combined for just 31 points. In the second meeting of the season, this time with Collaros behind the helm, the game was an offensive display, with the teams combining for 83 points. These two games represent both ends of the CFL spectrum, averaging a middling 57 points between them. For the upcoming home opener, strong defence will win out.

How many yards will Jonathon Jennings rush for? Over or under 29.5?
BC Lions Head Coach Wally Buono always seems to wish that Jennings would run more. Through his three starts in the 2017 season, Jennings has averaged 29 rushing yards per game and shown remarkable consistency around that number, with a season high of 32 and a season low of 27.
Buono, then, is getting his wish from Jennings, who averaged just over 20 yards per game through 18 starts last season.
On the other hand, there is less reason for Jennings to use his legs if the run game is firing on all cylinders. With Johnson’s performance last week in Montreal, it’s safe to say the Lions don’t have any concerns at RB.

How many receiving yards will Jalen Saunders have? Over or under 65.5?
Saunders had a strong performance in week three against the Roughriders. He was Collaros’ favourite target, catching for 78 yards on six receptions.
Saunders used his speed well and stretched things out downfield for the Tiger-Cats offence, averaging over ten yards per catch.
In a post-practice presser, Saunders spoke about his week three performance.
“It felt really great to be back on the field, I’m looking to build on it” he said.
The five foot nine speedster hopes to improve every time he steps on the field following his promising debut.

How many touchdowns will the Tiger-Cats score between defence and special teams combined? Over or under 0.5?
The Tiger-Cats special teams has been effective so far this season, and has even contributed on the scoreboard. With two blocked field-goals, one of which was recovered for a touchdown, the teams is a threat to strike.
With Justin Rogers 110 yard interception return for a touchdown, it is clear that defensive coordinator Jeff Reinebold’s defence has the potential to put up some points.
The only question is: how long can the magic last?
