Tiger-cats Add Defensive Tackle Whitlock To Practice Roster

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday that the football club has added international free agent defensive tackle Nikita Whitlock to the team’s practice roster.
Whitlock, 26, spent the last three seasons (2014-16) with the National Football League’s New York Giants. In 2015, he was named the Giants’ starting fullback and suited up in 14 games at both fullback and defensive tackle, registering six tackles and one quarterback sack. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals on May 12, 2014, and also spent time with the Dallas Cowboys before joining the Giants. Upon turning pro, Whitlock was converted from defensive tackle to fullback but ended up playing on both sides of the ball in the NFL.
The 5-10, 250-pound native of Wylie, Texas, played in 47 games with 45 starts as a defensive lineman at Wake Forest University over four seasons (2010-13). Whitlock posted career totals of 241 tackles and 18.5 sacks with the Demon Deacons. As a senior in 2013, he was named a First-Team All ACC selection after posting 82 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks.
The Tiger-Cats also announced two other transactions on Thursday.
