Besides play football, what do you kids at La Joya High School do for fun?
What do we do for fun? Ah shoot. I’m trying to think. Honestly, its soccer and baseball. Soccer is religion back home. I remember when we were in middle school we didn’t have enough money to buy equipment. We had free lunch, but we’d all pitch in a quarter, a dime, a nickel, to buy a Coke. Then we’d all pass it around and drink it really quick. Then we’d play pick-up soccer with an empty Coke bottle. Those were the days. Those were the days.
What animal would you like to be if you were reincarnated?
A lion. I’ve always liked the lion. It’s ferocious, you know.
If you had ten attempts, and your life was on the line, could you hit a 70 yard field goal?
With the wind behind my back? Uhhh, Yes. If we were in Hamilton for sure. 100% I could do it in Hamilton. You put me somewhere else and then maybe 70 yards would be pushing it. I’d be a goner.
Many years from now, when you retire from an illustrious football career, what do you see yourself doing?
Hopefully I want to have ten kids. Ten, eleven kids. Enough to make a soccer team. Want them to be all running around. Then they all run up to me (maybe I’m a grandpa) and they’ll be like, “Hey grandpa, tell me about the old days. How things used to be.”
Do you think you can long snap better than Crawford, or he can kick field goals better than you?
No doubt, I’m a better long snapper. I was snapper in middle school. For some reason I could snap the ball pretty well in middle school.
But who was kicking?
They had this other Mexican [laughter].
Aaron Crawford is hanging from his fingertips off the top of Section 218. In one hand you are holding the game ball from the 57 yarder you hit in high school, and in the other hand you are holding an adorable newborn kitten. Which one do you drop off the edge in order to save Crawford’s life?
My girl and I…. I started to love animals because of her. I’d have to drop the game ball because if not she would drop me off the stadium.
Coach Dennis McKnight is hosting a strictly special teams party at his place. Who spikes the punch?
I’m going to go with Fauby [Felix Faubert-Lussier]. I don’t know. You know them French guys, they’re out there you know. If he did that, well, maybe none of us will remember the next day anyway, if you know what I mean.
If you were employed with the Tiger-Cats as anything but a player, what position would you want?
I’d be the equipment manager. I love what Drew does. He’s amazing. He’s just always there, helping out the guys. I’d still get to hang out with all the guys. I think that’d be super cool.
