The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has been named one of the CFL Top Performers for Week 12.
Masoli, 29, completed 17 passes on 31 attempts (54.8%) for 231 yards, and added seven carries for 73 yards (10.4 avg.) in Hamilton’s 26-22 road win over the Ottawa Redblacks on September 9. Since being named the starting quarterback of the Tiger-Cats on August 28, the University of Mississippi product has led the team to back-to-back wins, while compiling 450 passing yards, one passing touchdown, 84 rushing yards and one interception in two starts.
In his sixth CFL season, the 5-10, 228-pound native of San Francisco, California, has played in all 10 of Hamilton’s games, posting 50 completions on 91 pass attempts for 595 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and 146 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns.
Winnipeg’s Maurice Leggett and Edmonton’s Brandon Zylstra, first and second in voting, respectively, join Masoli as this week’s CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
