Banks Named Cfl Top Performer Of The Week

The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver/kick returner Brandon Banks has been named the CFL Top Performer for Week 18.
Banks, 29, registered six receptions for 129 yards and one receiving touchdown, and posted four punt returns for 111 yards and a touchdown in Hamilton’s 43-16 road win over the Montreal Alouettes on October 22. Since being named a starting wide receiver on September 4, the Kansas State University product has recorded 39 receptions for 690 yards and five touchdowns in eight starts.
In his fifth CFL season, the 5-7, 155-pound native of Garner, North Carolina, has played in all 16 of Hamilton’s games, posting 47 receptions for 742 yards and six touchdowns. Banks has also added 35 punt returns for 384 yards and one touchdown, and 32 kickoff returns for 604 yards.
Toronto’s James Wilder Jr. and Saskatchewan’s Duron Carter, second and third in voting, respectively, join Banks as this week’s CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
