Today was the last full practice before the Ticats preseason opener against the Toronto Argonauts. With all the players coming out of the tunnel with smiles on their faces, greeting fans and Mike Filer dancing to “Money” by Pink Floyd, it was easy to see how confident this team is in their abilities.
Aside from offensive lineman Mike Filer’s incredible dance moves, these are three key takeaways from today’s practice:
American Awareness:
With the sheer volume of players that have come into this season’s training camp, it can be easy to be lost in the crowd. This has been anything but the case for Jumal Rolle. Rolle was signed just a few months prior to training camp in February.
Found taking first-team reps on Wednesday’s practice, it will be interesting to see where Jumal fits in come Friday. After starting in 19 NFL games between the Buffalo Bills and the Arizona Cardinals, Rolle has been brought north of the border to make an impact. Shining in a secondary alongside renowned specialists, Richard Leonard and Abdul Kanneh, Rolle looks to make a sizeable contribution this season in TigerTown.
Pep in his step:
With Adams back in full pads yesterday and in full participation today, Adams may find some reps in Friday’s game. With the main goal of a preseason game being getting repetitions in for players in a game atmosphere, Adams may find the field later in the game. Going into Friday’s game, Coach June Jones is expecting to give starting quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli, a single offensive drive, and players such as Adams may get a little something extra.
Repetition repetition repetition:
One main ideology that has been emphasized over the course of this training camp is the notion of doing the little things, right. This has played into the hands of wide receivers, linebackers, defensive backs, and many more positions as they have been educated on their mistakes, not criticized. This level of mature coaching will only benefit these payers down the road as the season wears on as the mistakes made back in may during the learning phase, will turn into victories in June.
