Closing out their Alberta road trip with a record of 1-1, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats found a new gear against the Eskimos. Here are the three key takeaways as the Ticats cruised to a 38-21 victory over the Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium.
It’s Timmis Time
Recording his first and second CFL touchdown, running back Mercer Timmis had a night to remember. Totaling over 133-rushing yards and adding to that two touchdowns, Timmis showed just how comfortable he is in this Hamilton offence.
Masoli Mania
The province of Alberta and the teams that play within the borders of it have posed no issue for Masoli. In the possession of a now 1-1 record against west coast teams, Jeremiah Masoli has had back-to-back games surpassing the 300-yard mark. Throwing for a combined 676-yards against the Stampeders and Eskimos, Masoli has seemed to be playing with a smile on his face and swagger in his step. Slinging the ball out to Tasker for a pair of touchdowns, extending the play with his feet, and connecting with Brandon Banks for an 18-yard touchdown, Masoli had a Cinderella night from the first snap. Beating the Eskimos through the air and on the ground, he controlled the game from the moment the Ticats walked onto the field until the clock struck zero.
Tick-Tac-Tasker
Recording a perfect five receptions on five targets for 103 yards and two touchdowns on the night, Luke Tasker was one of the team’s top performers. Recording seven touchdowns in 2017, he now sits just five touchdown’s back of breaking his past season high. On top of his yards through the air, Tasker also added 50-yards after catch showcasing just how versatile the 5’11” receiver has become.
