The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Brandon Banks has been named one of the CFL Top Performers for Week 13, marking the second consecutive week he’s earned CFL Top Performer honours.
Banks, 30, recorded six receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns in Hamilton’s 36-25 road win over the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field, eclipsing the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the second consecutive season in the process. In his last two games – two Tiger-Cats wins over the Argonauts – the 5-7, 150-pound native of Garner, North Carolina, has posted 15 receptions for 288 yards and four touchdowns.
Banks, a six-year CFL veteran, now ranks second in the league in receptions (69) and receiving yards (1,033), tied for third in receiving touchdowns (seven) and tied for fourth in receiving targets (100) through Week 13. The Kansas State product, who has posted 100-plus receiving yards in eight of 11 games in 2018, has also added two carries for five rushing yards, 19 punt returns for 186 yards, one kickoff return for 18 yards and one missed field goal return for 23 yards.
Edmonton’s Mike Reilly and Duke Williams, first and second in voting, respectively, join Banks as this week’s CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
