Official search for new Pigskin Pete to commence this offseason
With the absence of an official Pigskin Pete character for the balance of the 2018 season, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday plans to continue the iconic ‘Oskee Wee Wee’ chant at the team’s three remaining regular season home games.
A mix of distinguished Tiger-Cats alumni, local celebrities, season seat holders, Hamilton youth engaged in team community relations programs and other special guests will come together to keep the tradition alive on game day. This includes both the ceremonial ‘first Oskee Wee Wee’ before kickoff, and the ‘East Stands vs. West Stands Oskee Wee Wee’ between the third and fourth quarters.
“The Oskee Wee Wee chant is one of the most defining and symbolic in-game traditions in all of sports,” said Matt Afinec, Tiger-Cats President and Chief Operating Officer. “For the balance of the 2018 season, we’re excited to engage so many different club stakeholders to lead the in-stadium effort to celebrate and honour the rallying cry that is so uniquely associated with the Tiger-Cats and our great fans.”
Fans can also look forward to section-by-section Oskee Wee Wee chants, including giveaways of commemorative Pigskin Pete bowler hats, throughout Tim Hortons Field on game days. For younger fans looking to learn the chant for the first time, there will be a pregame Oskee Wee Wee tutorial in Stripes’ Jungle playground, led by the UpRoar promotional team.
Plans to fill the renowned Pigskin Pete character role for the 2019 season and beyond will be unveiled in the offseason.
