Depth Assessment: Quarterback

LAST SEASON
The Ticats finished with the best passing offence in the East Division in 2018 which was good enough to be the second best passing offence in the CFL. Led by 2018 CFL East All-Star Jeremiah Masoli, the Ticats threw for 5592 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2018.  Most of the Quarterback room is returning for the 2019 season including Masoli, who started 17 games, and Dane Evans, who started the other game.

QUARTERBACK ROOM
JEREMIAH MASOLI
Masoli opens another training camp as the starting Quarterback of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and he’s coming off his best season to date.
After starting 17 of 18 games in 2018, Masoli led the East Division in passing yards (5,209) and passing touchdowns (28) and was named a CFL East All-Star. In addition to this, Masoli was also named the Ticats Most Outstanding player and started both of last year’s playoff games.

DANE EVANS
2018 backup Quarterback Dane Evans is also back with the Ticats for the 2019 season. In 2018 Evans appeared in five games, including starting the regular season finale at Tim Hortons Field against the Montreal Alouettes. In the game, Evans threw for 315 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

HAYDEN MOORE
Joining Masoli and Evans in the quarterback room is rookie import Hayden Moore. After completing his senior year at the university of Cincinnati, Moore signed with the Ticats earlier this month. As a Bearcat he appeared in 36 games, throwing for 6,518 yards with 42 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. In Masoli, he will have a great example to follow as tries to grasp the Canadian game.

TRE FORD
A young Canadian pivot will also be joining the Ticats for training camp. University of Waterloo quarterback Tre Ford will be getting reps with the Ticats under the CFL’s internship program. The Niagara Falls native just completed his second year at Waterloo and will be looking to hone his skills with the Ticats. Ford is a dual-threat QB who threw for 3,093 yards, 30 touchdowns and two interceptions while adding  771 yards on the ground punching it in four times.
The CFL internship program was made mandatory for all CFL teams in 2012 and allows U SPORTS Canadian quarterbacks to participate in drills and hone their skills in a professional environment.
