Game Preview: Ticats (1-0) @ Argos (0-0)

The Ticats (1-0) defence of the Ballard Cup begins Saturday when they make the trip East on the QEW to BMO Field and take on the Toronto Argonauts (0-0).
Hamilton swept the season series last year and will look to keep the ball rolling into 2019.
For what it’s worth, these two teams did also meet in the 2019 preseason. The Argos won that game 30-23.
The Ticats are coming off a 23-17 win over Saskatchewan in their season opener. The Argos had a bye in week one, so the Ticats look to spoil the party as the Argos play their first game of the season. In 2018, Toronto went 4-14,  finished last in the East Division and missed the playoffs.
While they didn’t have a successful season, the Argos are not a team to be taken lightly. They still feature plenty of talent to contend with.
James Wilder Jr. is one of the most talented backs in the league. The Ticats will have to be aware of them if they’re going to have success.
The Tiger-Cats will also have to be aware of Toronto’s two monster receivers, S.J. Green and Derel Walker. Green has been a top receiver in the league for a long time, having hit the 1000 yard mark in six of the past eight seasons. The Argos  made a splash in free agency, signing prized free agent Derel Walker, who finished sixth in touchdown receptions last year, despite only playing 11 games. This will make for an exciting matchup between two star receivers and a very talented Ticats secondary.

James Franklin will likely be the starting quarterback for Toronto, but they do still have Mcleod Bethel-Thompson in the fold.
Adding to the intrigue this year, is the amount of former Argos that are now working in Hamilton. 14 to be exact. Including six players who made the jump to the Ticats since the end of last season. Anthony Coombs, Will Likely III, Justin Tuggle, Chris Van Zeyl, Cameron Walker and Dylan Wynn all suited up for the boatmen last season.

Long-time Argo Chris Van Zeyl made the move to Hamilton on the eve of training camp He played 10 seasons in Toronto, and was named a CFL All-Star twice and an East All-Star five times before being released before the start of this season.
Kick off in this game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at BMO field in Toronto.
