A 2016 draft pick of the Tiger-Cats, Brandon Revenberg is gearing up to play his 100th career CFL game in the black and gold. To him, however, it’s just another game trying to get the win.
“It’s a milestone marker for sure when you get to 100, but at the end of the day, for me, it’s just a number,” he said.
It may just be another number for Revenberg, but to spend every game in Hamilton is something special. He shared how much he has enjoyed his time here so far and how he hopes to play many more games with his Hamilton teammates. Along with that, the football fans here are passionate about their team, and the guys on the field feel the energy and appreciate the boost it gives them.
“This is the best place to play in front of,” Revenberg said. “This is some of the best crowds you’re ever going to see, they fill it up, they’re loud, they have a great time, we love it here.”
While the fans play a role in giving the team a boost, Revenberg had some high praise for his teammates as well, both past and present. Back when he was a rookie, his veteran offensive linemen took him in and taught him how to be a professional. Now, he feels it has become his responsibility to pass what he has learned on to his younger teammates.
“Having my veterans really take me under their wing really helped me develop and showed me how to be a professional, how to put in that extra time,” he said. “You do naturally become a leader in the room when you kind of hit that veteran status, so it’s just one of those things where you just kind of have to give back.”
Passing along advice to younger athletes coming up through the ranks in football, Revenberg’s best piece of advice is to just be willing to learn.
“As long as you’re willing to learn, and you put in that time and effort, good things will come,” he shared.
While his career has been successful thus far, Revenberg hinted that there is still more to come for him. Proud to reach 100 games, he is still looking towards the future and focusing on one game at a time.
“It’s something where I can definitely be happy with the moment, but not satisfied,” he said. “While I did hit 100, that’s cool, but there’s a lot more for me to look forward to still.”
