Recent Fourth Round Finds For The Tiger-cats

Hamilton holds picks 6, 29, 31, 40, 64, 67 in tomorrow’s draft

The Tiger-Cats hold six selections in the upcoming Canadian Football League Draft, with picks in the first, fourth (2), fifth and eighth (2) rounds and if history is an indicator, the club is capable of getting talent with each of those selections.

The Ticats have had a successful run in the fourth round over the past couple of CFL Drafts and the club is hoping this trend continues, when they pick at #29 and #31 in Tuesday’s draft.

Last season, the Tiger-Cats grabbed Guelph Gryphons receiver Kiondre Smith with their fourth rounder (37th overall). The 6’2, 190-pound native of Markham, Ontario enjoyed some success in his rookie CFL campaign, posting 17 receptions for 247 yards and one receiving touchdown. His first season was highlighted by his 54-yard touchdown reception on September 17 vs. Winnipeg and if that wasn’t impressive enough, Smith capped off the 54-yard bomb with a spectacular front flip celebration in the endzone.

The Tiger-Cats also grabbed a contributor in the fourth round of the 2020 Canadian Football League Draft, defensive back Stavros Katsantonis. Hamilton selected the 5’10, 188-pound defensive back with the 36th overall selection and he stepped right onto the field in his first season as a professional, appearing in 14 games and posting 19 total tackles, including four special teams tackles. Katsantonis followed that season up by suiting up in all 18 games in 2022, registering 25 total tackles, with 20 special teams tackles.
