Hamilton Tiger-cats Prepare For Home Opener

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats returned to practice Tuesday at Tim Hortons Field.

The Ticats are coming off a 32-14 loss Sunday against the rival Toronto Argonauts and are looking to get in the win column this Friday, when the Montreal Alouettes come to town for this season’s home opener presented by FirstOntario.

Temperatures averaged around 20 degrees with partly cloudy skies, while the Ticats began preparations for their week three matchup with the Alouettes.

Kicker Marc Liegghio was the first man on the field, practicing 30-yarders before the start of practice, while Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Reinebold observed from the side of the field.

Quarterback Matthew Shiltz practiced with the first team in place of the injured Bo Levi Mitchell, who didn’t dress for today’s practice.

“There’s high expectations for him and I know he sets high standards for himself,” Head Coach Orlondo Steinauer said at today’s press conference when asked about Shiltz.

Woods picked up right where he left off, looking sharp while returning kicks on special teams and taking reps on the defence.

Richie Sindani has been activated off the suspended list after missing the first two games of the season and is looking forward to making his Ticats debut.

“I can’t wait to be back and get this thing rolling,” Said Sindani during today’s media scrum.

2023 first-round pick, Dayton Black, was taking reps with the first team on the Ticats offensive line. Black got his first taste of regular-season CFL action in Sunday’s game against the Argos.

“I just wanted to do my job, I was coming in hoping my preparation and work would help me perform” Said Black following Tuesday’s practice.
