The Hamilton Tiger-Cats returned for day three of practice at Tim Hortons Field Wednesday.
Temperatures were sunny and averaged around 21 degrees throughout practice.
Matt Shiltz and the offence were the first group on the field and Chris Van Zeyl returned to the offensive line after being removed from the six game injured list.
Van Zeyl missed the pre-season and both regular season games recovering from a hip injury, and expressed that the journey of returning to the field was a long one.
“It’s been long, obviously I’d like to be out there a lot sooner than this, but I got an opportunity and i’m going to make the best of it,” Said Van Zeyl about his return to practice.
Terry Godwin II had an early ‘catch of the year’ candidate in the Ticats loss against the Argonauts, and he was taking first team reps once again in practice.
“We’re going to go out there and protect that turf, it’s a home game and we’re going to have some fun,” Said Godwin II when asked about the upcoming game with the Alouettes.
In a practice that saw the Ticats on the field longer than normal, Javien Elliot was sharp on the Ticats secondary.
Elliot has been a solid addition to this Ticats back field and is thrilled to play in front of Ticats fans for the first time this season.
“We want to give those guys a win, they support us and we wan’t to return the favour,” Said Elliot.
The Ticats return to Tim Hortons Field Thursday for the team’s final walk-through before their home opener with the Alouettes.
