The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Friday, the return of Play it Forward presented by LiUNA.
Play it Forward will provide hundreds of youth from local Indigenous communities unique experiences with the Tiger-Cats, including tickets to Ticats games and mentorship opportunities with Ticats players.
“Play it Forward has become an outstanding program and we’re thrilled to be able to give back to the Indigenous community in the Hamilton area.” Said Courtney Stephen, Director of Community Partnerships, Hamilton Sports Group. “It’s amazing to see how much our players want to be involved in this initiative and we’re thankful to them and to LiUNA for making it all possible.”
The program also includes a sports camp on July 17 from 6-7:30 p.m., where 150 Indigenous youth from the local area will be invited to Tim Hortons Field to participate in a mix of football drills and other activities led by Tiger-Cats players, the Dance and Cheer team, and special guest coaches.
“LiUNA Local 837 is proud to stand with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as returning presenting partners of Play it Forward in our ongoing commitment to reconciliation. The program will empower opportunity, team building and mentorship exercises while providing unique local experiences for hundreds of Indigenous youths” said Riccardo Persi, Business Manager, LiUNA Local 837.
Transportation to and from the event will be provided and all the youth in attendance will receive Play it Forward T-shirts and tickets to two Tiger-Cats home games, including the September 30 vs Calgary as well as tickets to a Forge FC home match, courtesy of LiUNA.
