The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to get good production from everyone in their quarterback room. From injuries to Bo Levi Mitchell and Matthew Shiltz, to an electric run under rookie Taylor Powell, to the return of Shiltz last weekend—the Ticats have proven that they can win football games in any number of ways.

Versatility and adding value has been the core identity of Coach Steinauer’s 2023 team, a team that is now hitting its stride at the perfect time of the season.

After Powell got off to a slow start (two of six for 14 yards), Shiltz came off the bench and immediately connected with veteran wide receiver Tim White for a 70-yard touchdown on his first pass of the game.

In all, Shiltz completed 11 of 19 passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

On the ground, James Butler returned to form, carrying the ball 14 times for 92 yards (6.6 YPC). White put up 96 yards receiving off of three receptions, 70 of which came courtesy of the the touchdown strike.

Defensively, veteran linebacker Simoni Lawrence led the team with seven defensive tackles.

On special teams, kicker Marc Liegghio connected on three of three field goals.

Proficiency on offense, defense and special teams helped Hamilton lock down their seventh win of the season and secure a spot in the 2023 playoffs.

Next up, a road matchup with the 6-9 Saskatchewan Roughriders this Saturday October 7th at 7:00 PM EDT.
