The Hamilton Tiger-Cats hit the road for the first time in 2026 on Thursday night, travelling to Princess Auto Stadium for a showdown with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Hamilton enters Week 2 looking to rebound from a hard-fought 30-27 overtime loss to the Montreal Alouettes, while Winnipeg is coming off a dramatic 30-28 victory over Calgary that was decided by a last-second field goal.
With both teams expected to contend in their respective divisions, Thursday’s matchup provides an early measuring stick against one of the CFL’s most consistent franchises.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on TSN and RDS2 in Canada, CBSSN in the United States, and CFL+ internationally.

Tighten up against the pass
The Tiger-Cats defence showed flashes in Week 1 but will be looking for a stronger performance against the pass after allowing 336 passing yards to Montreal.
That challenge won’t get any easier against veteran quarterback Zach Collaros and a Winnipeg receiving corps that spread the ball effectively in its opening win. Former Tiger-Cat Tim White, along with Nic Demski, Ontaria Wilson and Tommy Nield, gives the Blue Bombers multiple options capable of creating explosive plays.
For Hamilton’s secondary, the focus will be on limiting big gains and forcing Winnipeg to sustain long drives rather than giving up chunk plays through the air.
Slow down Brady Oliveira
If there is one player capable of controlling the pace of a game, it’s Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira.
Hamilton’s front seven did an excellent job against Montreal’s ground game in Week 1, holding the Alouettes to just 80 rushing yards. Replicating that effort will be critical against one of the CFL’s most productive rushers.
Defensive linemen Mario Kendricks Jr. and company will need to establish the line of scrimmage early, while linebackers led by Reggie Stubblefield must be disciplined in pursuit and tackling. Limiting Oliveira’s impact on first down could go a long way toward putting Winnipeg in uncomfortable passing situations.
Find balance on offence
The Tiger-Cats offence showed its ability to move the football through the air once again in Week 1, but establishing a more consistent rushing attack would help create opportunities across the board.
Hamilton utilized multiple ball carriers in the opener, but running back Larry Rountree III is expected to shoulder much of the workload moving forward. After averaging 2.9 yards per carry against Montreal, the offence will be looking for greater efficiency on the ground to complement Bo Levi Mitchell and the passing game.
A productive run game would not only help control possession but also slow down a Winnipeg defensive front featuring playmakers Willie Jefferson and Jake Ceresna.
